Meet Vern Rockwell: 50+ Years of Designing Homes That Fit Your Life

My Story

I knew I wanted to design homes when I was three years old. While other kids wanted to be firefighters or astronauts, I was already drawing houses. That passion has carried me through five decades in residential architecture, and at 71, I’m more excited about getting up and going to work than ever.

My journey took me from working construction sites (so I’d understand how homes are actually built) to running one of the largest residential architectural firms in the country.

But what I love most is the one-on-one work with homeowners – understanding their needs, guiding them through the process, and seeing their faces when they walk into a home that truly fits their life.

Mission & Values

Listen First, Design Second: Too many architects want to design what we like instead of what you need. My job is to diagnose before I prescribe – just like a good doctor.
Clear Communication: I don’t hide behind architectural jargon. When I explain something, you’ll understand it. And when you tell me something, I make sure I truly hear it.
Realistic Expectations: I’d rather tell you something will take a month and deliver it in two weeks than promise two weeks and take a month. Trust is built through honest communication about timelines and budgets.

Why This Matters to You?

When you hire me, you get someone who:

  • Personally works on your project (no delegation to junior staff)
  • Understands construction from the ground up
  • Has the experience to guide you through decisions you didn’t even know you’d have to make
  • Asks the right questions (like whether you’re left-handed or right-handed for optimal dishwasher placement)
